6ix9ine is pushing back against the narrative that he’s an absent father.
During a conversation with DJ Vlad, the host pressed the “Gummo” rapper about whether he’s a deadbeat father to his three children, drawing a parallel between 6ix9ine’s relationships with his kids and his relationship with his own absentee father.
When Vlad confirmed that 6ix9ine doesn’t have 50-50 custody for his kids, Vlad asked if he feels like he “repeated what your dad did to you in terms of you being a father?”
“No, because I'm involved,” Tekashi responded, defending himself. “With my daughter, everybody knows I'm involved. My mom literally is involved in everything.”
He went on to draw out the difference between him and his father, noting his father chose to stay away despite having full access to visit.
“That's not the case here, right? For me to see my daughter, I need to be chaperoned on a couch. You know how easy it is to say, ‘Yo, let's show you how much of a deadbeat 6ix9ine is.”
He continued, “Why don't they bring the baby and leave her there and say, ‘Yo, listen. Here's your daughter.’ How many times have I requested for my daughter to come here?”
6ix9ine then said that his daughter's—likely referring to Saraiyah—birthday was coming up in a few days. “My mom is going to New York because they don't want to celebrate her birthday here.”
He and Sara Molina—Saraiyah's mother—have had a fraught relationship over the years. In 2021, Molina slammed 6ix9ine, calling him a “deadbeat” and claiming that he wasn’t providing for their child, who reportedly turned 10 this year.
“He spent more on his girlfriend in one year than what he has put away for my daughter,” Molina said in an Instagram post captioned “Deadbeat lying.” “My daughter has less than $100,000 in the bank for her. College and everything. … [He] walks around with a [million] in his pocket. … You do the math.”
6ix9ine has been making headlines in the past few weeks, it seems every one of his interviews feature one outrageous quote or another. Recently, he mused about being the original content creator, talked about how he ended up $8 million in debt, and joked about sending Demi Lovato drugs so she'll relapse.
