Hot Boy Turk is clearing the air after Birdman's rant at the Cash Money and No Limit Verzuz turned its sights to him.
The New Orleans rapper called into Yung Joc's The Streetz Morning Takeover show to answer some questions, starting with why he wasn't present. "I wasn't invited," Turk said. "I don't go where I ain't invited and I don't stay where I'm not welcomed."
Host Mz. Shyneka questioned why Birdman chose to single out Turk for not attending the Verzuz, to which the rapper simply replied, "Because I'm him."
He went deeper, reassuring that Birdman "got love" for him, but it's a "strange love." "People don't understand our language, our slanguage. A lot of people probably took that as a diss, but I didn't take it as no diss because that's how we talk," he explained.
As for Birdman saying, "We gon’ fuck with you when we want to fuck with you," Turk had an explanation for that.
"He spoke for 'we' as the cast members," Turk said. "You can't mess with me when you want to. You could mess with the fans when you want to 'cause I'm out getting my bag."
And he wasn't lying. Turk hosted a Verzuz watch party at Houston club Shades of Bleu, treating fans to a performance of his own after his verses were cut from the tracks.
Turk also alleges that Lil Wayne wasn't invited. Birdman did acknowledge Wayne in his rant, and the Cash Money side even played "A Milli." When asked what Turk thinks the "disconnect" is between Wayne and the team, Turk said, "I don't know. I mind my business and the business that pay me."
Shyneka also asked if Turk likes B.G.'s new set of teeth, to which he jokingly replied, "I don't even know who that is!"
He then got serious, saying, "That man doing his thing. Salute to all them guys. It's all love on my end, bruh." Turk also hinted at knowing of the tensions brewing for some time, saying, "It ain't nothing new. Like, it be new to the world. I be knowing all this stuff before, behind the scenes. It's not surprising to me. That's why I came prepared!"
On Saturday (Oct. 25) at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, No Limit and Cash Money went head to head, with both labels' hitmakers showing off their timeless catalogs. At the end of the battle, Baby took the mic on behalf of Cash Money and went "off-script," per Mannie Fresh.
"I was trying to do something different in the game,” Birdman began. “I started this shit young. I was a young man trying to get some money and not be in the streets.”
After shouting out the other original Hot Boys members, Juvenile, B.G. and Lil Wayne, the labelhead had some tense words for Turk.
“Shoutout to Turk," he said. "You a little bitch. You ain’t here, but fuck you. We gon’ fuck with you when we want to fuck with you.”
These tensions are nothing new. Back in September, Turk filed a lawsuit against tour promoters after being removed from the Cash Money Millionaires’ 30th Anniversary Tour for refusing to accept a pay cut. According to the rapper, he's owed $300,000.
Turk alleges that tour promoters said his removal was safety-related due to his beef with fellow group member B.G., but the rapper argued that if that were the case, he would've also been booted from the tour but was instead kept on because he accepted the pay decrease.
