Journalist Abby Phillip wanted CNN to cut the cameras during her awkward 2024 interview with Cam'ron.
The esteemed news anchor was a guest on the Tuesday (Oct. 28) episode of The Breakfast Club and was asked about the interview in which she probed Cam about allegations surrounding Sean "Diddy" Combs, who was recently sentenced to 50 months in prison.
Rather than speak on the matter, the rapper and podcast host plugged and took a sip of his Pink Horsepower sexual enhancement supplements before saying he was getting some "cheeks" after the interview.
"I knew that we needed to end the interview," Phillip said around the one-hour mark of the video below. "We were up against the end of the show, and we had to get to a certain time. I had to land that plane, and I did. And look, I mean, it was ridiculous, but as we know, that was the point."
Phillip laughed off Charlemagne's question about the transcriber being confused about the "cheeks" remark but said that the staff unanimously wondered, "What just happened?"
The news anchor also said that she wouldn't give the situation "much more oxygen" and claimed that Cam's team had actually requested the Diddy question.
"All I will say is that we were told by his team that he wanted to talk about this, not the other way around," Phillip said.
She also explained that the CNN crew knew "early on" that she'd need to "quickly" wrap up her time with Cam.
"It was from the get-go," she said. "I'm not new to this. Like, I know from the beginning when somebody is not interested in being interviewed."
Phillip alleged that Cam was late to the interview, but thankfully, his time on CNN was his favorite viral interview, even years after his infamous chat with Bill O'Reilly. Around the 15-minute mark of Cam's most recent Breakfast Club interview below, he said he didn't know who Reilly was before meeting him.
He did admit that he knew CNN wanted to ask him about Diddy but claimed that the network "kept forcing the issue." As an upside, according to Cam, sales for Pink Horsepower increased by 400 percent.
