Angie Stone Dead at 63 Following Car Crash

According to TMZ, the singer died after being involved in a car accident early on Saturday morning.

R&B and soul singer Angie Stone has died at 63 years old, TMZ reports.

The vocalist was leaving a performance on Saturday morning in Montgomery, Alabama, before the tragic accident, a rep for the late singer told the publication. Further details were not provided.

According to Page Six, Angie Stone's daughter Diamond Stone, aka Ladi Diamond, mourned the loss of her mother on Facebook.

Stone, who hails from Columbia, South Carolina, got her start in the music industry as part of pioneering female rap crew The Sequence. The trio was signed to Sugarhill Records, where they released three albums. In an interview with VladTV, Stone said that The Sequence helped write Sugar Hill Gang’s songs "Apache" and "8th Wonder.”

As a songwriter and backing vocalist, Stone, born Angela Laverne Brown, worked with the likes of Prince, Lenny Kravitz and D'Angelo, the latter of whom she shares a son, Michael Archer Jr.

As a solo act, Stone released ten albums, her first being Black Diamond, while her most popular singles were "Brotha" and "Wish I Didn't Miss You."
