After traveling with his mother, Madonna, on The Celebration Tour, 18-year-old David Banda has admittedly faced some struggles as a New York City transplant.
According to People, the native Malawian held an Instagram Live session where he joked about "scavenging" for food in the Big Apple. Banda was asked by one user about his transition to living on his own, and in response he share that he's been enjoying it, especially living with his girlfriend, model Maria Atuesta.
"It's lovely to experience it being 9 o'clock at night, me being hungry and realizing that I don't have enough money to get food, but we don't have enough food in the house and scavenging," Banda joked. "It's fun to be young."
He continued, "I love it. I’m not on my own, I’ve got my girlfriend. But I love it."
While living in the Bronx, Banda hosts guitar lessons. He also performed as a guitarist on dates of his mother's tour, which concluded in May. In a tour diary for W Magazine, Madonna shared on-stage photos of her other adopted children, Chifundo "Mercy" James, 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 11. Madonna also has two biological children, Lourdes Leon, 27, with former partner Carlos Leon, and Rocco Ritchie, 23, with ex-husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie.
"When I go on tour, nothing brings me more happiness than to know we are all working on the same show, creating the magic together," Madonna told W. "It would be boring if they were just traveling from hotel to hotel, and occasionally coming to watch the show. Of course, I am their mother so sometimes we get on each other’s nerves. We are a family of artists but we are also a family, and that’s what happens."
