After a career-altering appearance on Kendrick Lamar's latest album, GNX, Lefty Gunplay has been arrested in El Paso, Texas

According to CBS 4 News, the Los Angeles rapper, real name Franklin Scott Holladay, was arrested over the weekend for drug possession and bringing a prohibited substance/item into a correctional facility or civil commitment facility. Lefty was scheduled to perform at "Chuco Brunch" at local restaurant Friendz, Sports Bar & Kitchen, but wasn't able to attend the event. A video circulated on social media of the rapper being escorted in handcuffs by a police officer at the front desk of an ER office in an El Paso health clinic.

By Monday (February 24), Lefty was released from jail on a $35,000 bond for the charges. Following his release, the rapper spoke to Power 102 Radio Host Patti Diaz, and while he was mum on details behind the arrest, he expressed wanting to make up the concert engagement for his El Paso fans.

Like fellow GNX guests Az Chike and Dody6, Lefty saw a boost in streaming and listenership after Kendrick's album dropped last November. Earlier this month, Kendrick performed the Super Bowl LIX Apple Music Halftime Show, performing his Lefty collaboration "TV Off" with special guest and the song's producer Mustard.
