Meek Mill claims to have gotten into trouble with New York City police this week.
The rapper had a rough start to November, as he tweeted early Saturday morning that he was detained while at a local nightclub.
"They just pulled me out the car and cuffed me in front of the whole club embarrassed the shit out of me in nyc !" the Too Good to Be True artist wrote.
Meek went on to deny that he's scared to be in public without a weapon. "[T]hey had guns in my face for no reason smh I thought it was a prank," he continued.
Meek followed with another tweet, theorizing that it was a setup.
"They tryna get me," he wrote.
An NYPD rep told TMZ that they stopped three men just after 4 a.m. on Saturday, following a report of a man with a gun in his car. The police did not find a gun, and all three were let go.
The Philadelphia native has an extensive rap sheet, but has turned to criminal justice reform through the non-profit organization REFORM Alliance, which he co-founded alongside Jay-Z and a group of business executives. Among the organization's founding partners were 76ers owner Michael Rubin, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai, and hedge fund manager and investor Daniel Loeb.
In 2017, Meek was received a sentence of two to four years in state prison for violating probation. After five months, the rapper was released on bail under an order by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and handed a ten-year probation period. Meek had initially gone to jail in 2009 with a 11-to-23 month sentence on weapon and drug charges.
Meek joined Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro during a 2023 press conference when three bills were signed to change the state's probation laws.
"We tried to be better but they labeled us as felons, sent us back to jail. I had to fight against that the whole time to gain my respect and be who I am today, and I'm proud of that," the rapper told reporters.
