Gloria Velez claims she has insight into the feud between Jay-Z and Nas.
During an extensive interview on VladTV, the actress and video vixen claimed that Nas had slept with one of her friends who was dating Jay at the time. And how does she know? She told the outlet that she had a front row seat.
Velez said the incident occurred in 2001, after she was tapped to appear in Nas and Bravehearts’ “Oochie Wally” video. Velez said that the director, Benny Boom, had asked her to recruit other women for the visual, and that included Jay’s then-girlfriend.
Velez also seconded the claim that Nas had proposed a threesome with her and Jay’s lady, but Velez said she declined.
“Nas, we’re cool. There was nothing ever sexual between me and him. We were always friends. He was always respectful,” she began.
Velez said after production wrapped, she and the Jay’s girlfriend went back to Nas’ hotel room, where he suggested a ménage à trois.
“He was like, ‘Come into the room. Let’s do this, let’s do that.’ I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m good,’” Velez continued.
Velez said Jay’s then-girlfriend was about 19 or 20 at the time andwas “very serious” with the rapper, so much so that Hov gave her a position with his fashion brand, Rocawear.
“She was from the islands… she was naive to the industry,” Velez recalled. “She was just getting into it. There was a lot of manipulation.”
Velez said she remembered telling her friend not to sleep with Nas, as she didn’t think it was a “good idea.” But she said Jay’s girlfriend disregarded the warning.
“So I watched them have sex. I didn’t participate in any of that,” Velez said. “I guess [Jay] found out or whatever the case may be. But yeah, it was crazy… Jay was really into her. He really loved her.”
Vlad said the sexual encounter further complicated Jay and Nas’ rocky history. He pointed to his previous interview with Nas’ first baby mama, Carmen Bryan, who admitted to having an affair with Jay while she was with Nas.
“The love lives of Nas and Jay-Z are really kind of intermixed in many ways, which I think caused a lot of that early beef,” Vlad said.
Velez agreed.
“There’s a rule. If it’s someone’s serious that you love, it’s hands off. Everybody knows,” she said. “I mean, men get feelings, too, you know what I mean? When you love a woman, you get feelings.”
Velez alleged Jay was also sleeping with other women when he was dating her friend, but she said there was a double standard in the relationship.
“She couldn’t sleep with anybody… [but] he was out there, obviously,” she said before returning to the Nas incident. “But to sleep with your rival? You know what I mean… I told her not to do it. But it happened.”
Velez said she’s still in contact with Jay’s ex and that she is “happy now."
“She has children. She was married,” Velez said. “She went through a lot of shit in her life, as well.”
