President Donald Trump’s administration is warning that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will attend Super Bowl LX following the news that Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny is headlining the halftime show.
Corey Lewandowski, an adviser at the Department of Homeland Security, appeared on Benny Johnson’s podcast The Benny Show on Wednesday (Oct. 1) and warned attendees about the likelihood of federal agents at the NFL’s largest event.
"There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else,” Lewandowski said.
He continued with threats that ICE would “find” and “apprehend” undocumented immigrants before placing them in a detention facility.
“So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to how it used to be,” he said.
To be clear, Puerto Ricans (including Bad Bunny) are, in fact, U.S. citizens.
Fans erupted in celebration online after the NFL confirmed that Bad Bunny would be performing the halftime show.
“I was thinking these days, and after talking to my team, I think I will do one date in the United States," the three-time Grammy winner tweeted in Spanish.
The Puerto Rican artist had previously said he wouldn’t tour in the U.S. to promote his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, because it was "unnecessary."
He later clarified that he and his team were worried about possible immigration raids on Latino fans at shows in the States.
"Fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]," Bad Bunny said last month. "And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about."
Super Bowl LX will take place on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
