Offset briefly stirred the pot on social media after posting and then deleting an Instagram Story jokingly referring to Georgia state law that could technically recognize him as the father of Cardi B and Stefon Diggs' newborn child, since he and Cardi are still legally married.
The post, a simple black screen with white text reading "My kid lol," came shortly after viral reports claimed the state's paternity rules could assign him legal responsibility despite Cardi's pregnancy occurring during their separation.
The law in question states that in Georgia, a married woman's husband is presumed to be the legal father of any child born during the marriage, regardless of biological paternity, unless formally challenged in court. The technicality sparked widespread online confusion and memes, prompting Offset's now-deleted jab at the situation. Per Georgia law, however, it's not that simple and Diggs can file for legitimation, which gives him the legal rights to their child. Otherwise, Cardi is technically the only one able to make legal decisions for their newborn.
The rapper's post followed a viral tweet from My Mixtapez that suggested Offset could legally be considered the father. The timing was explosive, coming amid public tension surrounding Cardi B's relationship with Diggs and the couple's ongoing divorce proceedings.
Shortly after Offset deleted his post, Cardi B responded online, not about the joke directly, but about the escalating harassment, obsession, and threats surrounding her personal life.
In a series of posts, Cardi wrote: “Y’all be thinking it’s so funny and it’s not… it’s been over a year and I’m still being harassed and threatened to the point that I feel like my life in danger.”
She continued: “MF’ers do anything for attention and it could get real nasty with just one upload… LEAVE ME TF ALONE.”
Cardi later went on X Spaces to share a lengthy diatribe detailing ongoing harassment, her struggles with postpartum depression, and the pressure and scrutiny she has faced since giving birth. She explained that despite constant accusations that she is “outside” or not caring for her children, she has been primarily at home recovering, parenting, and managing her mental health.
She also said the harassment has reached a worrying level, describing “unhealthy obsession,” substance-abusing individuals targeting her, and people encouraging dangerous behavior toward her.
Cardi emphasized that she has tried to handle matters privately, but the pressure has become overwhelming.
“I’m really starting to be concerned… I can’t take this anymore. I don’t bother nobody. Leave me the fuck alone,” she said.
Offset has not addressed the deleted post publicly, and Stefon Diggs has remained silent as well. Cardi and Offset are still legally married as their divorce works through the courts, which is why the Georgia statute became such a widely discussed flashpoint.
