Kim Porter’s children have spoken out amid the proliferation of “so many hurtful and false rumors,” urging both the general public and those in media to refrain from attaching her legacy to what they say are “horrific conspiracy theories.”
As you’ve likely seen in recent weeks, Porter, who died of lobar pneumonia in 2018, has been made the subject of varying degrees of speculation in connection with Diddy, who remains in federal jail following his arrest earlier this month. An unsealed indictment, as previously reported, revealed charges against the Bad Boy Records founder including trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty, with his attorney stating he’s an “innocent man.”
Amid coverage of Diddy’s mounting legal issues, his relationship with Porter, with whom he shared three children: Christian Combs (also known as King Combs), Jessie Combs, and D’Lila Combs. Diddy was also a stepfather to Quincy Brown, Porter’s child with Al B. Sure.
The children’s statement, released amid heightened attention on the family due in large part to tabloid-focused distribution of excerpts from a purported memoir they say is fraudulent, opens with a mention of unfounded claims being spread about Porter and Diddy’s years-long relationship. From there, it’s noted that Porter never wrote any such book, thus confirming what had already been roundly assumed given the presentation of the self-published title.
“Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue," the statement reads. "She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves.”
As for conspiratorial takes on the circumstances surrounding Porter’s 2018 death, the family is clear that “no foul play” was involved.
“While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established,” the children said, adding that “grief is a lifelong process.”
In short, despite the fact that we live in a time in which a slew of made-up nonsense is easier to spread than ever, we should all try to do better than simply falling into conspiracy theory-minded gobbledygook.

We have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating about our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs' relationship, as well as about our mom's tragic passing, that we feel the need to speak out.
Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue. She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves. Additionally, please understand that any so-called 'friend' speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart.
Our lives were shattered when we lost our mother. She was our world, and nothing has been the same since she passed. While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established. There was no foul play. Grief is a lifelong process, and we ask that everyone respect our request for peace as we continue to cope with her loss every day.
We are deeply saddened that the world has made a spectacle of what has been the most tragic event of our lives. Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories.
We ask that everyone please respect our mother, Kim Porter, and hold her legacy in high regard so that she may rest in peace. It’s what she deserves.
We love you and miss you Mommy.
Quincy, Christian, Jessie, and D’Lila
