Lil Reese is speaking out after reports of a rape allegation-related arrest.
In an update to his Instagram Stories Monday night, the 31-year-old Ask About Me artist said the claims are "made up," adding that he expects the case itself to be tossed soon.
"They do anything for clout and tryna come up," Reese said, urging news outlets to also cover what he's predicting will happen at an upcoming court date. "Try again."
As first reported by TMZ on Monday, Reese, born Tavares Taylor, was arrested on Sunday after being accused of rape by a woman in the Los Angeles area. Per the outlet, which cited police sources in its report on Monday, Reese first joined the woman on a dinner date, after which the two went to a hotel room. At this point, the woman alleges that Reese "forced himself on her and raper her," at least according to TMZ’s sources. The allegation later saw Reese being arrested at the hotel on suspicion of sexual assault and rape.
Online jail records list a July 14 arrest date for a Tavares Taylor, 31. The arresting agency is listed as LAPD, with the arrestee having since been released after posting bail in the amount of $100,000. A court date is slated for Aug. 8.
Complex has reached out to Reese’s reps for comment. This story may be updated.
News of the initial arrest first hit social media by way of a video from Boosie Badazz, who told fans he saw Reese in handcuffs as he was taken away by police.
"They just took him to jail," Boosie said.
