Lourdiz, recently featured on Cardi B's Am I the Drama? track “On My Back,” is calling out cyberbullying after being made the subject of a death hoax.
In a statement shared to her X and Instagram accounts, the “To Luv Ya” artist told fans she was “shaking while typing this,” adding that what she’s been subjected to in recent days marks “a whole different level of disturbing.” While Lourdiz didn’t specifically mention Nicki Minaj in her statement, she did later share a screenshot pointing to an X trending news topic about the death hoax in which Nicki was named.
The headline shown in the screenshot reads, “Rapper Lourdiz Death Rumor Debunked as Cardi B-Nicki Minaj Fan Rivalry Hoax.” Cardi and Nicki, as a slew of headlines should have already made clear, were recently involved in an extensive back-and-forth that ultimately landed a “Donkey of the Day” title for Nicki.
“First of all, I'm alive.. but I'm shaking while typing this because this is a whole different level of disturbing, and my spirit isn't sitting right with it right now,” Lourdiz said in a statement shared Monday, Oct. 13. “I’m grateful to have parents who love me and made me mentally strong, but I want to speak up for those who aren't able to handle situations like this and have no one to turn to. Anyone who condones this kind of behavior, it speaks volumes about your character.”
Lourdiz continued, “Bullying people or spreading lies about someone being dead is where I draw the line. It's a deeply sensitive topic, and real people have lost their lives because of this kind of cruelty. When will people start holding others accountable for what their fanbases do? I don't stand for this type of behavior and neither should any of you. It's inhumane and heartbreaking. If you're capable of this level of hate, please stay far away from me. This kind of harassment isn't fandom, it's barbarism. Please do better.”
The statement closed with a nod to “anyone who’s lost a loved one to cyberbullying,” with Lourdiz urging fans to “spread love, not hate.”
The Los Angeles-based Lourdiz, originally from San Antonio, has also worked with Nicki in the past. On Pink Friday 2, released in 2023, she’s credited with co-writing both “Pink Friday Girls” and “Cowgirl,” as well as featuring on the latter.
“To Luv Ya,” Lourdiz’s latest solo single, arrived earlier this month via Amigo Records.
