For fashion fans, the highlight of Day 1 of the U.S. Open was all about the purse worn by Jena Sims, the wife of player Brooks Koepka.
In a TikTok video filmed before Koepka teed off on Thursday, June 12, Sims showed off her green Astr the Label dress and a rare Louis Vuitton purse from the brand’s collab with Tyler, the Creator — part of Pharrell Williams’ debut season as Men’s Creative Director.
The tiny accessory was none other than the elusive mint-colored Damier Mini Golf Bag — a smaller replica of the $31,500 golf bag from the original capsule collection. When the purse version was released, it quickly became coveted and was almost impossible to find. Gently used versions can fetch up to $6,500 online, but securing a new one requires having a loyal LV sales rep on call, like Sims does.
“I’m gonna do a quick little fit check because I am wearing one of my favorite bags,” said Sims, 36, in the June 12 video. “I’ve had this for over a year now, and I just haven’t quite found the perfect outfit for it. It’s a very rare Louis Vuitton mint golf purse. Oh my gosh.”
In the video, Sims put her hand over her mouth with excitement.
The swimwear model and designer — the reigning Rookie of the Year for her two appearances in the iconic Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue — previously posted an unboxing video in April 2024, where she gushed over the purse, which was sent to her by a personal rep at the company.
Before working with Williams on his capsule collection, Tyler contributed a verse on the “Happy” hitmaker’s 2022 single “Cash In Cash Out.”
For his LV collection, Tyler drew his now-famous “Craggy Monogram” by hand. The collection featured pastel pink, chocolate brown, and, of course, the mint green that Sims displayed at the U.S. Open. The collab also featured an $18,000 chess box, $3,050 windbreaker, $590 cereal bowl and spoon, and the most expensive item: a $68,000 giant monogram trunk.
As for golfer Koepka? After missing the cut at the recent PGA Championship, he performed well during Day 1 of the Open — putting him in striking distance of a big win.
“The bag was good luck today!!” commented one fan on Sims’ TikTok post.
“It was because of the golf bag,” agreed another. “Wear it all week ma’am.”
