Walton Goggins is breaking his silence on the rumors that he had a falling out with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood.
The two actors, whose characters Rick and Chelsea were a fan-favorite couple in Season 3 of the hit HBO series, spoke to Variety in a new interview. Fans had speculated there was a rift between them after discovering they were no longer following each other on social media.
“I think it’s such a comment on where we’re at culturally. Why is everyone obsessing over Instagram? That is irrelevant. We don’t give a shite about Instagram,” said Wood, 31. “Why not have conversations about the story and Rick and Chelsea and enjoy it?”
She explained that at first, she wanted to correct people on their speculation. But she conceded that anything she said would get twisted.
“Eventually I just started to sit back and watch these people making something out of absolutely nothing," she said.
"If I may add, just to put this to bed?" said Goggins, 53. "The following or unfollowing. I’m a grown-ass man."
Further into the interview, Goggins laughed and said to Wood, “You know what? I’ll follow you right now!”
The new interview arrives a month after Goggins refused to answer questions related to an alleged falling out with Wood during an interview with The Times.
"I’m not gonna have that conversation," Goggins told reporter Ed Potton, with his American publicist adding, "We’re not going there, thank you."
“There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me,” Goggins told Variety, while reportedly getting choked up and turning to look at Wood. “This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I’ll be on an island, I think Greece. But she’s special. There is no feud. She is love and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.
“What am I gonna do, speak for both of us? Never,” he added, before referencing Potton's question about if the actors ever bonded over their teeth. “What he was insinuating, it was so disgusting. It was so appalling. I was flabbergasted. And I said, ‘Fuck mate, wow. I think we’re done here.’”
