Former child actress Madison Pettis is down to portray Mariah Carey in a potential biopic if the opportunity comes her way.
As TMZ reported, the 26-year-old actress got an overwhelmingly positive reception to her 2023 Halloween post celebrating Carey, for which she recreated several of the singer-songwriter's iconic shots and album covers.
When asked by a paparazzo about playing Carey in a movie or series, Pettis said that she decided to do the Halloween tribute after being told by a lot of people that she resembled the "Emotions" vocalist.
"I wanted to properly homage, I hope I did her well," said Pettis, who starred alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in 2007's The Game Plan.
"If she does that biopic, I would love it," Pettis continued. "And I've heard she doesn't want anybody to sing her vocals, because no one should. No one should touch those vocals, and I'm not a singer. So if we're just talking acting, I would love to do it."
Asked if playing Carey would be her "dream role," Pettis said it would be "one of them."
Carey has spoken about her interest in a biopic since at least 2020, following the release of her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Per The Hollywood Reporter, she said that she was looking to adapt her memoir for a miniseries or movie, but nothing has been confirmed.
