Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light tour took an unexpected turn in Brisbane on Friday, November 21, after the singer revealed that an audience member yanked several of his locs straight out of his head mid-performance.
Kravitz, 61, addressed the moment in a video posted to his Instagram Stories after the show. He kept the tone light, but made it clear just how intense the encounter was.
“Brisbane, that was wild. That was wild,” he said, explaining that as he stepped into the crowd during his performance of “Let Love Rule.” He added, “A very excited young lady pulled four locs out of the back of my head.”
He followed with the line that instantly went viral: “You know how hard you got to pull to rip those out of my head? Damn, baby.”
Despite the shock, Kravitz made it clear he was not changing the way he connects with fans during that song. The rocker said that moment in the set has always been about sharing energy with the crowd, and one incident isn’t going to break the ritual.
“I’m not gonna stop coming out there for ‘Let Love Rule,’ because that’s what we do. That’s our moment together,” he told followers.
The Brisbane stop is one of several dates Kravitz has played across Australia and New Zealand this month as he continues touring his 12th studio album, Blue Electric Light, released in 2024.
Earlier in the day, he posted about how the run has been affecting him, writing, “Coming to New Zealand for the first time and returning to Australia after so many years is giving my soul the most beautiful energy.”
The tour is set to wrap its 2025 dates in Australia with shows in Melbourne, Mildura, and Adelaide before Kravitz picks things back up in Mexico City on March 14, 2026.
It follows his five-night Las Vegas residency, during which he told People that performing in the city’s storied entertainment lineage felt meaningful. “I am a student of music and music history and show business, and Vegas is legendary,” he said in a previous interview.
