TLC is delving into one of the most talked-about figures in The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City franchise with a new three-part docuseries that examines the life of Mary Cosby and the church she leads alongside her husband, Robert Cosby Sr.
Titled The Cult of the Real Housewife, the limited series premieres Thursday, January 1, from 8–11 p.m. ET/PT on TLC, with all episodes available to stream the following day on HBO Max and Discovery+.
The documentary will take viewers inside the world of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, the institution founded by Mary’s grandmother, the late Rosemary “Mama” Cosby.
According to TLC, the series traces Faith Temple’s transformation from its early days under Mama Cosby’s leadership to the controversy that erupted after her death—when control of the church was passed to Robert Cosby Sr. and later intertwined with his marriage to Mary.
Through this lens, the show revisits how one of Utah’s most prominent religious families became the subject of public scrutiny and speculation.
The docuseries will include first-hand accounts from former members of the congregation, including the Enoch family, who describe their years inside Faith Temple. Mary’s sister, Denise Jefferson Odinaka, and cousin, Dan Cosby, appear alongside Dan’s wife, Kim, offering personal insight into the family’s complicated legacy.
Investigative journalists and online commentators who have followed the story from the beginning also contribute context, as does a leading cult expert who helps unpack the tactics often used to maintain loyalty within closed communities.
Archival footage, interviews, and recordings of sermons delivered by Mary and Robert Cosby Sr. provide a rare look into how the church evolved under their leadership—and how its influence extended beyond the pulpit.
The series aims to explore long-standing questions about power, faith, and the blurred line between devotion and control.
The Cult of the Real Housewife is directed and produced by Elli Hakami and Julian P. Hobbs, the team behind TLC’s Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed, which investigated claims of abuse and corruption within a global religious movement.
