Filming for 'Euphoria' Season 3 to Begin in January With Zendaya, Main Cast Returning

The third and final season of 'Euphoria' is scheduled to begin production in January, nearly three years since the release of the show's second season.

While Euphoria fans will have to wait a bit longer for its third and final season, the show has at least set a production date with the main cast in tow.

On Friday, July 12, HBO surprised fans of the hit Sam Levinson drama by announcing that filming for the new season would begin in January, with cast members Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie and Maude Apatow expected to return.

"I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January," said Francesca Orsi, the Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films.

Orsi continued, "We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans."

Sadly, Barbie Ferreira will not be involved with the show moving forward, along with Angus Cloud, who died at the age of 25 in July of last year from an accidental overdose. It's rumored that the show's plot will include a time jump, since the season two finale ended with a police standoff at the home of Fezco (Cloud) and his brother, Ashtray (Javon Walton).

In the two years since the show's hiatus, HBO has denied that Euphoria was canceled, saying instead that it allowed the "in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."

Lead actress Zendaya appears ready to conclude the series, having expressed to Vogue earlier this year her desire to move away from playing high school-aged characters.

"I’m always in a high school somewhere," Zendaya told the publication. "And, mind you, I never went to high school."
