Catching back up with ComplexCon Global Creative Director Danieal Arsham at his home studio, he walks us through his mental process in recreating the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign that will be displayed on the ComplexCon floor.
This phase is less about the dimensions and more into what makes the city of Las Vegas so unique. Arsham’s process is more than just studying the sign itself or figuring out how to remix it, but also understanding the design language of the era and what made Las Vegas attractions so eye-catching. “[Vegas] was originally designed as a city that you’d be driving through, so everything originally was designed to be experienced in the front seat of the car.”
We see a creative visionary at work, blending research and nostalgia to inform his upcoming piece. It’s a process that promises to deliver one of his most striking installations yet. As we move closer to ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas on October 25 & 26, Arsham’s vision continues to take shape.
