For Zendaya, it's the little things that matter.

While filming The Odyssey in Scotland with fiancé Tom Holland and co-star Matt Damon, Zendaya said she cherished the quiet, everyday moments she and Holland enjoyed off set. She told the Sunday Mail—the Scottish Sunday sister paper to the Daily Record—that it was as simple as being allowed to act “normal.”

“I was excited I got to visit Scotland,” said Zendaya. “I really loved my time in Inverness; it was a beautiful city.”

“Obviously, we were there to work, but in between filming, we had a chance for a bit of downtime. The locals were so friendly and actually allowed us to do normal things.”

She and Holland were photographed grabbing ice cream at a local eatery, posing for photographs with staff members. They also had the opportunity to do some sightseeing when not on set.

Holland shared that working on the epic film was “the job of a lifetime.” He told GQ, “It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible.”

He added, “It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

In The Odyssey, Zendaya plays the goddess Athena, Damon portrays Odysseus, and Holland, Telemachus. The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Robert Pattinson, and John Leguizamo.

The film tells the story of Odysseus in his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, showcasing his encounters with Polyphemus, the Sirens, Circe, and finishing with his reunion with his wife, Penelope. It is based on the classic novel by Homer.

The Odyssey is slated to premiere on July 17, 2026. On July 17, 2025, a year before the film’s premiere, tickets for early IMAX 70mm screenings of The Odyssey in select theaters went on sale.
