Deondre Burgin, the ex of former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson, was arrested on July 14 in Newport, Kentucky. Burgin, 21, was taken into custody by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and local police, following a warrant issued by Ohio's Hamilton County.
The arrest stemmed from a June 21 incident in Cincinnati, Ohio, in which Burgin and an accomplice allegedly carjacked a victim. Reportedly, Burgin, aka Yerky Yerky, and his accomplice pistol-whipped the victim, stealing their Mercedes-Benz C300 and a Glock handgun. The victim sustained facial injuries and required hospitalization.
This latest arrest adds to Burgin's growing list of recent legal troubles. Just a few months ago, Skai Jackson requested a restraining order against Burgin. The request was filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court and cited domestic abuse allegations. The pair share an infant son, whom Jackson, 23, was reportedly holding during one incident.
In August 2024, Jackson herself was arrested at Universal Studios following an alleged domestic incident that also involved Burgin.
The Jessie star has remained quiet online regarding Burgin's arrests and accusations, but fans have wasted no time rallying around Jackson in support after news broke of her restraining order.
"Sick of seeing so many headlines of Black women celebs having to deal with abusers lately, I desperately want better for them all. Hoping Skai and the baby are safe," one commenter posted.
Someone else added, "It’s so common for young women to become famous and end up with awful men. It’s so heartbreaking - I hope her and her baby are safe!"
Regarding Burgin's most recent carjacking arrest, one commenter posted a photo of a dumpster on Reddit with the caption, "your carriage, sir."
