For Doechii, a heterosexual man is a red flag in the dating space.
The "DENIAL IS A RIVER" rapper recently appeared on Hot Ones Versus with DJ Miss Milan, where she was asked to reveal her biggest dating red flag. Doechii wrote it on a whiteboard, prompting Miss Milan to guess.
Though she did say that having bad music taste is also a red flag for her, Doechii revealed that being a “straight man” was hers. “Strike one, you’re a man. And you’re heterosexual,” she said.
In December, opened up about her bisexuality on The Breakfast Club. “I’ve dated bisexual men, no problem,” she explained.
“Let me know what it is up front. I’ll accept you for who you are. It doesn’t really matter,” she said. “I think it’s like cheating on top of lying and secrecy about just who you are as a person. How can I be bisexual and then I’m gonna date somebody else who’s bisexual? Why, because it’s a man? Who cares?”
Last month, Doechii expressed her thoughts about how the idea that hip-hop is less “intellectual” than other genres stems from racism.
"I’m gravitating towards the pure skill that was incorporated," Doechii said during an interview with The Cut. "Anyone who doesn’t think that hip-hop is an intellectual genre, I think that assumption is rooted in racism."
Elsewhere in the interview, Doechii opened up about how Lauryn Hill’s only solo studio album was important to her. "The feeling that I have when I listen to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is the same feeling I want some other Black little girl to have when she listens to me," said Doechii. “And in order for her to have that feeling, I have to talk about my feelings."
