Steph Curry's wife Ayesha Curry and Draymond Green were recorded getting into a tense exchange with Parisian police on Saturday, August 10.
In the three-minute video published by The Hollywood Fix, which can be seen above, Ayesha appeared to tear up during an interaction with local police following Team USA's gold medal-winning match against France, according to the New York Post. She was joined by her husband's Golden State Warriors teammate, Green, and her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry. She was also carrying her son Caius, while their eldest, Canon, walked closely behind.
"Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from," Sonya could be heard telling the police officers in the clip. "They won’t let the driver come here, and they won’t let us go back over there." A man appeared to be translating what the police said and informed the three that "the president" [Emmanuel Macron] was scheduled to pass by the street and nobody was allowed to cross until he had done so.
At one point during the incident, Draymond alleged that one of the officers had gotten physical with Ayesha and Steph's child. "So even after you hit the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?" he said. It's unclear how long the confrontation was before the clip started, but Ayesha was seen wiping tears away from her eyes.
Despite the situation with Steph's family following the game on Saturday, it was a huge day for them thanks to his stellar performance in the Men's Basketball finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Steph put up 24 points, including four 3-pointers in the final three minutes. He was a key factor in the 98-87 win against France.
"I’ve seen that from Steph a few times, but it never gets old," Team USA head coach Steve Kerr said in a postgame interview with reporters. "It’s a global game with a lot of great players, but we still feel we have the greatest players. They were all so unselfish throughout this whole thing, through all the noise, all the pressure. We might be the only team in the world whose fans are ashamed of them if they get a silver medal, and that’s the pressure we face."
