Former WWE standout Andrade is back in the headlines — and this time, it’s not about his next move in AEW.
According to Sports Illustrated, the wrestler, who’s been performing under his “El Idolo” persona since leaving WWE, reportedly walked out of a live event for The Crash Lucha Libre in Tijuana, Mexico.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer, however, says that Andrade was billed as the top draw for the card on Friday, November 7.
“Andrade was on the show, probably the main attraction,” Meltzer said. “He was there signing autographs and then he left. The only thing that we heard was that he was unhappy, so I don’t know what the story is.”
Andrade, who won The Crash Heavyweight Championship in his debut match with the promotion back in October, hasn’t publicly confirmed why he left the event early.
But he did respond to reports with a tongue-in-cheek post on X (formerly Twitter), writing in Spanish, “Fui a la comida china al tal HK!!!” — roughly translating to, “I went for Chinese food at HK!”
Since departing WWE, Andrade’s career path has taken several turns. Although he’s signed with All Elite Wrestling, his non-compete reportedly prevents him from performing in the United States, leaving him free to wrestle internationally. The clause is expected to expire sometime in late 2026.
Despite the restrictions, Andrade has been keeping fans engaged online, hinting at future AEW storylines once he’s officially cleared to compete.
His brief reappearance on AEW Dynamite earlier this year saw him ambush Kenny Omega before aligning himself with Don Callis’ faction, a move that sparked plenty of speculation about his comeback plans.
Meanwhile, Andrade’s name continues to surface in AEW-related circles. Viral TikTok creator “Big Boom AJ,” who recently joined QT Marshall in a tag match at Full Gear’s Zero Hour, posted a video hyping a potential face-off between himself and El Idolo.
