Former NFL player Deion Sanders has canceled some of his upcoming appearances as he deals with an "unspecified health issue," according to USA Today.
The current coach of Colorado University's football team is said to be spending time at his home in Texas, and is missing CU’s annual slate of summer football camps.
While it's unclear what might be ailing Sanders, his son shared some insight during a recent YouTube livestream.
“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” Deion Sanders Jr. said. "When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m gonna sit here with him."
Sanders has had a few health issues in the past. In 2023, for example, he underwent emergency surgery for blood clots in his legs.
"I had a big blood clot in my thigh that they got out, and I had some below my knee that they got out. Then I've got one in the right leg that they're going to get soon," he said in an Instagram post at the time.
Two years prior, Sanders had two toes amputated due to blood clots. According to People magazine, Sanders was diagnosed with compartment syndrome which occurs when there's "too much pressure around your muscles" (via The Cleveland Clinic).
It's unclear if Sanders' current health concerns are related to his past clots. The Hall of Famer has been posting regularly on social media and fans have been commenting on his posts, sending him prayers and wishing him well. However, he hasn't made mention of his health.
