Authorities have arrested Antonio Brown on an attempted murder charge.
According to TMZ, the former NFL player was extradited from Dubai this week after his alleged involvement in a May shooting.
Law enforcement said Brown was turned over to federal agents in the New York Metropolitan Area and will be sent to South Florida to stand trial.
The alleged shooting went down during a Miami boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross. Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of gunfire outside the venue.
Brown was briefly detained for his alleged role in an altercation but was released without being charged after officers failed to locate the alleged victim and determined Brown was not armed during a pat-down. They did, however, find two spent shell casings and a damaged gun holster nearby.
After several weeks, Miami officials issued a warrant for Brown's arrest. The move came after multiple eyewitnesses identified Brown as the May 16 shooter, and video footage showed the now-37-year-old athlete allegedly fighting with a man identified as Zül-Qarnaįn Nantambu.
A June arrest warrant obtained by TMZ Sports stated Brown had stolen a security guard's gun and opened fire on Nantambu.
"Cell phone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing towards Mr. Nantambu on the outside sidewalk," the warrant stated. "The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu. The video also captures Mr. Nantambu ducking after the first shot is heard."
Several days after the incident, officers interviewed Nantambu, who allegedly had "visible injuries." Nantambu told investigators that he believed one of the bullets had grazed his neck.
Brown addressed the altercation via X on May 17, claiming he "was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal [his] jewelry and cause physical harm to [him]."
"Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me," he wrote. "I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED."
Brown was hit with one felony charge of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm.
This isn't the first time the former wide receiver has faced legal troubles. In 2019, Brown was sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on three separate occasions; in 2020, he pleaded no contest to felony battery and burglary charges; and in 2023, he was arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support.
