Tom Brady has revealed it was tough talking to his kids about the infamous Netflix roast special, in which shots at his family were taken.
During his conversation with Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast, Brady explained how difficult it was for his kids to see people make jokes about his family, especially his divorce from Giselle Bundchen, with whom he shares two children. Brady said he had a great time during the special, and it made him feel like he was back in the locker room.
However, as a parent, he realized how much he "fucked up" after speaking to his children following the roast. As Brady puts it, he's not a perfect parent, and speaking to his kids was comparable to driving a sharp stake through his chest.
"We got done, we were, everybody was on Cloud Nine," the former Patriots quarterback recalled. "And I think that moment, I'll never forget, you know? And I'll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day, and I was, like, I felt like, you know, a stake through the heart."
This isn't the first time the seven-time Super Bowl champion spoke about how his kids were affected by the Netflix roast. Last year, Brady sat down wth The Pivot podcast and explained how much it was a lesson for him to be a better parent with his decisions.
"I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn't like the way that it affected my kids," the 46-year-old said. "So it's the hardest part of the bittersweet aspect of when you do something—that you think it's one way, then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn't do that again because of the way it affected the people I care most in the world."
He continued, "It's a good lesson for me as a parent. I'm going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time, I'm happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun, and I do think for me just outside, let's say that...if we're not laughing about things, we're crying, and I think we should have more fun."
