Travis Kelce is giving fans a glimpse into the moment he asked Taylor Swift to marry him, admitting it was one of the most emotional — and clammy — experiences of his life.
During a sit-down with Erin Andrews on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs star revealed he couldn’t hold back his feelings when the time came to pop the question.
“The palms were definitely sweating. I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there.” Kelce said. “It’s been an exciting ride up to this day. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”
Kelce also confirmed the proposal happened last month, just after Swift appeared on his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. Shortly afterwards, the couple announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post. Alongside photos from the big moment, they captioned it: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”
The news marked another major milestone for the high-profile couple, who have been in the spotlight since first sparking dating rumors in 2023. On the September 3 episode of New Heights, Travis told his brother that it’s been a surreal week since going public with the news.
“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” Kelce said.
He also shared how it felt introducing Swift as his fiancée for the first time at the Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Cincinnati Bearcats game on August 28.
“It was my first time introducing Taylor as my fiancée to a few of my teammates,” Kelce recalled. “Pretty cool.”
The NFL star admitted he’s still “giddy” over the proposal and called it “exciting times.” He even offered advice to anyone hoping to pull off their own dream proposal: “Man, you got to know your gal. You got to know your gal or your significant other. You’ve got to know them. You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way.”
