Ahead of the opening of a new flagship store in Miami, Jimmy "Heat Wentz" Butler is letting the world know that his BigFace brand is intended "for everybody."
For those unfamiliar, the Butler-founded brand’s mission is centered on imagining a reality built atop "better coffee, big dreams, and bigger smiles." While coffee remains the focus three years removed from the brand’s official launch, key merchandise pieces have helped drive home the message, including a recent trio of mesh short styles and a softwash logo tee.
"I want you to be able to sit down and talk over a cup of coffee," Butler recently told Complex of what BigFace means to him. "I want you to be able to say the merch is fire. I want it to be out in the community so you can see what you may have in common with somebody. That's where it all started and I want it to continue to grow."
Much of what's included in the BigFace apparel lineup is indeed based on pieces Butler himself would wear, though he’s quick to also note how integral the behind-the-scenes team of the brand is to its success. For the Miami Heat player and NBA All-Star, fresh off his recent Complex appearance alongside Camila Cabello, the BigFace approach falls in line with how he navigates his life, both on and off the court.
"I have to keep everybody guessing," the recent Fall Out Boy video star said. "I think that's what draws people to me. You never know what I'm going to do next, but whatever I do will be me in true fashion. I don't give a damn what anybody thinks."
The aforementioned Miami spot, described by Butler as a cafe in the city’s Design District, is set to open its doors later this year.
"I’m super hyped about it," Butler said of the latest BigFace expansion. "I get to be in the mix with my people enjoying incredible coffee." As for the city’s unique style, Butler pointed to its "everything goes" mentality as one that’s always in play, regardless of weather.
In the past, Butler and BigFace have launched limited-edition collab collections with other brands, including this month's Fellow drop. As fans will remember, the brand's beginning is rooted in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Butler's personal passion having since grown from a let's-try-it-out idea into a full-fledged force to be reckoned with.
