Stefon Diggs has sued social media influencer Christopher Blake Griffith for libel for allegedly lying about being sexually assaulted.
TMZ reports that Diggs’ lawsuit was filed on Oct. 1 and accuses Griffith of making up a story about him, based on an alleged incident that occurred in May 2023 at Diggs’ home in Rockville, Maryland.
Diggs' brother, Darez Diggs, was previously charged with attacking Griffith and subsequently faced a lawsuit from the influencer.
Here's everything you should know about the situation.
Stefon Diggs sues for defamation
According to Diggs, he, Griffith, and other influencers went to a local club and then returned home after a charity basketball game in May 2023 in Washington, D.C. Diggs claims he went to his bedroom, and his assistant asked Griffith to leave—far from what Griffith says happened.
Diggs alleged that Griffith made up allegations about what happened that night and posted them online this summer, plus tagged social media accounts for the NFL, the Patriots, and Uggs, with which Stefon Diggs has a sponsorship deal.
Diggs accused Griffith of knowingly and intentionally lying for online popularity and hurting the former’s reputation in the process. The New England Patriots wide receiver is seeking damages and attorney’s fees.
According to TMZ, Griffith’s attorney, Jake Lebowitz, shared a statement backing up his client’s claims.
"Mr. Griffith is looking forward to showing the world in Court that regardless of the fairy tale fabricated by Mr. Diggs' high-priced New York Lawyers, he is the victim of Mr. Diggs' unwanted sexual advances and his brother's violent attacks,” Lebowitz said.
Griffith claimed that Stefon Diggs sexually assaulted him
In September, Griffith alleged that Diggs "drugged and sexually assaulted" him and threatened to harm him. After posting the allegations online, Griffith explained his allegations in an interview with Tasha K.
“He attempted to have me unalived because of him making a sexual pass at me,” Griffith wrote online. “It wasn’t the sexual pass that frustrated me; what frustrated me the most was he tried to unalive me after it.”
Griffith then went into detail about Diggs allegedly drugging him, licking his ears, and attempting to sexually assault him.
Stefon Diggs' brother Darez was previously sued by Griffith
Griffith previously filed a lawsuit against Diggs’ younger brother, Darez, for allegedly attacking him in an elevator to “silence” him in October 2024.
In that incident, Darez met Griffith outside of an elevator at an apartment in Los Angeles. After exchanging a few words, Griffith attempted to leave before Darez stopped the elevator. Two additional men, who appeared to be with Darez, allegedly entered the elevator and attacked Griffith while the former stood back and watched.
Darez avoided jail time for his involvement after he cut a deal with prosecutors in the case, per Yahoo! Sports. He pleaded no contest to a single felony charge of grand theft from an individual, and an additional felony robbery charge was dismissed.
In Griffith's lawsuit against Darez, he claimed that he was left with pain, suffering, and emotional distress from the violent attack. The influencer sought $100,000 in compensation for his jewelry and other belongings that were taken from him.
Cardi B defended Stefon Diggs against claims of sexual assault
In an argument with JT on X in September, Cardi defended Diggs after the former brought up the sexual assault allegations against him.
"Chris [Griffith] lied because he was stealing and got caught..there's receipts for that," Cardi wrote. "He lied on Gervonta Davis too and changed the story 1000 times."
