Spain’s Nude Project Is Ready to Go Global

The Barcelona-born label built its name through community, creativity, and connection. Now, it’s setting its sights on the U.S.

Nude Project

Six years ago, Nude Project started as two friends with a dream and a couple of T-shirts. Today, the Barcelona-based brand has evolved into one of Spain’s most exciting creative exports. With nine stores and a growing global community, Nude Project is entering its next phase. Co-founder and creative director Bruno Casanovas reflects on how the label grew into a full-fledged lifestyle brand, why community still drives everything they do, and why the U.S. is the next step in the Nude universe.

How would you describe Nude Project's mission and the pieces it creates?
At Nude Project, our mission is to inspire our community to connect with themselves, that’s what drives us the most. We’re a creative platform for both our community and for anyone who chooses to do things their own way, accompanying this movement through designs that blend comfort, minimalism, and elegance, with an attitude that goes beyond fashion itself.

What would you say is Nude Project’s signature item and why?
Right now, our signature item is the Juicy Cherry T-shirt from our Bambino collection. It perfectly captures Nude Project’s essence: a mix of boldness, creativity, and attitude. It reflects how we understand fashion as a form of authentic self-expression that’s fearless and full of character.

Something we’ve noticed lately is how our more refined pieces, the ones with a stronger identity, like our puffers or knitwear, are gaining more and more importance within the brand.

What is your most proud moment from the past six years and why?
Without a doubt, what makes us proudest over these six years is the community we’ve built and the inspiration it gives us every single day. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on creating a real and honest connection with the people who follow us. Today, that connection has become the driving force behind everything we do.

If we’re talking about a more commercial milestone, I’d say our first physical store (which opened in Madrid three years ago) and our first international store (Milan, 2023) are two of the moments that made me proudest. In terms of collaborations, working with Ronaldinho was a dream come true, and seeing Madonna wear our pieces is something I still find hard to believe.

What are the key items from this latest collection that will be available on Complex?
For Complex, we’ve gathered some of the pieces that best represent our evolution as a brand. If I had to choose just two, they would be the Gradient Knit Hoodie in either colorway (one of our all-time bestsellers) and the Iconic Puffer Jacket, perfect for the upcoming winter season. With these two items, you can create a casual look that stands out for its composition.

Overall, the collection plays with textures and silhouettes, where we reinterpret our classics through a more refined and mature lens.

The brand is celebrating its 6th anniversary. How do you feel that the brand has grown or evolved most since its inception?
It’s hard to believe it’s already been six years. Not long ago, we were just two kids in a room with big dreams. Today, even with over 200 employees, nine physical stores, and many of our goals achieved, the brand still maintains that same original spirit.

During this time, we’ve evolved enormously, from product and communication to distribution and our entire business mindset. All of this has been possible thanks to our community, which has always been at the center of everything we do. From day one, we’ve made sure to listen to them, and over time, they’ve grown with us, always remaining our true driving force.

One of the biggest lessons this relationship with our community has taught us is the importance of physical retail. We started as a 100% online brand, but today, retail already represents 40% of our total sales. We’ve managed to create a chain of spaces that our community sees not just as stores, but as temples—places to discover our latest drops and also to disconnect from their daily routine.

Why does now feel like the right time to expand the brand and increase its presence in the U.S.?
Now feels like the right time because our community in the U.S. has been growing organically, and there’s a real creative energy that aligns with what Nude stands for. Over the past few years, we’ve connected with incredible Latino artists, such as Nicki Nicole, Trueno, or even Madonna in the U.S., who have helped us shape the brand’s identity and expand its artistic universe. Taking this step allows us to be closer to them, to the people who inspire us, and to keep building a space where fashion and creativity come together with authenticity and purpose.

The brand's social presence is very fun and lighthearted. Why is it important for you to present the brand in this way?
For us, it’s key that our presence on social media truly reflects who we are. At the end of the day, Nude Project was born from two friends doing what they love most: creating, enjoying, and connecting with people who share the same energy. We want our community to feel that vibe—to see that behind the brand there are real people with a sense of humor, eager to create and have fun. That closeness and authenticity are what allow us to truly connect with our audience, listen to them, and keep alive the spirit that started it all.

What are the future goals for the brand and what excites you most?
We’re currently in a phase where we have several main goals, the most important one being to continue expanding the Nude Universe across new channels and turning it into a true cultural reference. We also want to keep opening new stores in different countries, such as Germany in the coming months. And hopefully a U.S. city soon, following the success of our first pop-up there.

Another major goal is to launch a new collaboration with a powerful artist and, of course, to keep building experiences, community, and purpose, always staying true to who we are.
