Max B is clearing the air after a recent club performance stirred up renewed chatter about his long-running feud with Jim Jones.

The Harlem rapper said he had no intention of performing “We Sip Grand Cru,” a track known for its pointed shots at Jones, and claimed the decision came entirely from the DJ booth.

In a clip captured and shared by DJ Akademiks, Max B explained that he walked into the venue expecting to perform completely different songs. Instead, Funk Flex unexpectedly dropped “Grand Cru,” catching him off guard. Following his quick set, Max appeared to say something at Flex.

“That ain’t me, that shit wasn’t me,” Max said. “When I went in the club, I had two whole other records that wasn’t even in that chapter. Flex said he don’t got no records. He only got ‘Pin the Tail.’ I said, ‘All right.’ We was only doing one, maybe two songs. The n***a did two hooks of ‘Pin the Tail,’ and then played ‘Grand Cru.’ I ain’t know what was going on.”

Max went on to emphasize that he wasn’t trying to reignite old beef and hardly remembers the lyrics to the track.

“I’m not the DJ, I’m not trying to diss ... I don’t even know the words to that old shit," he said. "I’m not out here disrespecting nobody’s lady, it was a different time. To anybody who I’ve offended, I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart. But it wasn’t a diss for nobody.”

The explanation came as Max B has been rebuilding his career after his prison release. He has indicated that he's seeking a more positive direction despite fan speculation and resurfaced online chatter, including recent social media posts that revived highlights of the feud between Max B and Jim Jones.

As of the time of publishing, Jim Jones hadn’t publicly responded to the performance or Max’s comments.
