Sean “Diddy” Combs is the subject of a new documentary set to hit Netflix next month, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson aboard as an executive producer.

After a number of teases from the G-Unit Film & TV founder starting over a year ago, 50 Cent announced a release date for the four-part doc, titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, plus shared a brief teaser.

Fif was commemorated the moment in his usual manner, taking to Instagram to playfully chide anyone who previously claimed he was “capping” about the project.

Ahead of its December release, we’re taking a closer look at the team behind the new documentary. Keep reading for more.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning release date

Sean Combs: The Reckoning, broken down into a series of four one-hour episodes, will debut on Netflix on Dec. 2.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning director

Leading the 50 Cent-produced Diddy project is director Alexandria Stapleton, whose past credits include How Music Got Free and God Save Texas.

In a statement shared by Netflix, Stapleton, an Emmy winner, detailed her intentions of treating the project as “a mirror” for the general public.

“This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial,” she said. “Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”

What has 50 Cent said about the Diddy documentary?

Prior to Netflix’s confirmed involvement, 50 Cent had been teasing the documentary while publicly floating potential titles like Diddy Do It? and Surviving P Diddy. In late 2024, he predicted that the doc would “break records” upon its release.

“I’ve been committed to real storytelling for years through G-Unit Film and Television,” 50 said in a more recent official statement shared by Netflix. “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”

Who will be featured?

As of this writing, Netflix hasn’t shared a full list of interview subjects featured in the four-part doc. However, a recent press release promised “never-before-seen materials” and “exclusive interviews with those formerly in [Diddy’s] orbit.”

What’s the status of Diddy’s prison release?

Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering trial ended in July with a split verdict. The Bad Boy Records mogul was found guilty of two Mann Act violations, leading to a 50-month prison sentence. With a 2028 release date on the books, his legal team is now pursuing an appeal.
