Mia Thornton has spent the better part of 2025 talking about expansion—new city, new chapter, and what she called an “empire” taking shape.

When the Real Housewives of Potomac alum announced in April that she was leaving the show after four seasons, she framed it as a deliberate reset. “This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities,” she said on Instagram, adding, “I don’t just make headlines — I make history. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded.”

Thornton described the move as a clean start for her family after relocating to Atlanta, and thanked Bravo and Andy Cohen for giving her the space to share her story.

She reflected on her four seasons on RHOP as a run “filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories,” and promised fans that “big things” were on the way.

But just months after that announcement, Thornton’s new Atlanta era has taken an unexpected turn.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the 40-year-old reality TV personality was arrested on Wednesday, November 19, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Authorities confirmed she was taken into custody “without incident” and booked into Fulton County Jail due to an active warrant connected to a larceny case.

A police report reviewed by People states that the warrant stems from allegations made by the property owner of a condo Thornton had been renting in the city. The report claims a property management company contacted police after furniture was reportedly removed from the unit “in the middle of the night” on October 28.

Thornton’s former landlord alleged that “the tenants also took all of the furniture which was in the unit prior to their move in as well as the TV which was on the wall,” according to the report. The total value of the missing items was listed at $11,000.

Thornton has not publicly addressed the arrest, and People noted that attempts to reach her for comment were unsuccessful.
