The lawyer for Antonio Brown has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the former professional football star. Brown is facing a second degree attempted murder charge.

Last week, Brown was extradited from the United Arab Emirates back to the United States after being accused of involvement in a May shooting at an Adin Ross-hosted boxing event in Miami. Brown, who is currently in New Jersey, has been charged with attempted murder and will soon be sent to South Florida, where he will stand trial.

In a statement sent to TMZ, Brown's lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, shared that he "passionately" believes the athlete's self-defense claim.

"The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the alleged victim's violent behavior," Eiglarsh said. "Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who had previously committed criminal acts against him. It's a privilege to represent him, and I am determined to ensure that justice is served."

During the May incident, officers arrived at the scene after being notified of gunfire outside the venue, which was also captured on camera. After a brief detainment, Brown was released without charge after he was found unarmed and the victim was not located, although a firearm and two empty shell casings were found near the scene. Brown went on to tweet that he would seek legal council after being "jumped" at the boxing event.

A warrant was later obtained after several eyewitnesses named him as the perpetrator, and the alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nanatambu, also told TMZ that Brown confronted him before the situation went left. "He went, got a gun, shot wildfire, and we fight,' Nanatambu, who claimed to have known Brown since 2021, told the outlet. "He shot at me twice, praise be to Allah, I wasn't hit."
