Kayla Nicole held it down for women of all types, but particularly "brown girls," while dancing onstage with Chris Brown over the weekend.
During the Los Angeles stop of Brown's Breezy Bowl XX Tour on Sunday (Sept. 14) the sports journalist and podcaster put on a show with a risqué performance of "Take You Down."
Kayla wasn't shy about putting the moves on Brown, and she explained why in an Instagram reel recap posted on Tuesday.
"Well, that was fun," Kayla began. "Had to really do it for the teenage me blasting [Chris Brown] in her bedroom. For the mini-me who saw him at one of her first concerts. For the woman who sometimes feels like she has to be a monolith instead of multi-layered."
She added, "I did it for the smart girls, the cool girls, the sexy girls, the fun girls—for all of us who are all of those things at once. And I overly did it for my brown girls, tthhhhaankya."
Kayla could have been alluding to allegations of Brown preferring light-skinned and ambiguous women, but the journalist seemed to really herself at the concert.
The moment came just weeks after Kayla's ex, NFL star Travis Kelce, got engaged to Taylor Swift after two years of dating. Kayla and Kelce dated for five years on and off before splitting in 2022.
Earlier this year, Kayla said on an episode of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test that being trolled about Kelce and Swift's relationship had become "overwhelming."
"I've never experienced anything like it," Kayla said, adding that she'd been "reduced to a headline to something so small as someone's ex-girlfriend."
